The main characteristic of this format is that except the printed letterhead, all parts of the letter are written flush with the left margin. When the letterhead is not used, thesender's address is written to the left hand side of the page above the date.
The paragraphs are left aligned. A double space is used to separate one paragraph
from the next. It follows an open punctuation; it dispenses with the tedious indenting and punctuation in the format of the letter. This speeds up the typing time and alsoreduces errors. The subject line is typed to the left of the page.
Though traditionalists consider it lop-sided and heavy on the left side, it is much
preferred in the modern business world as it saves typing time.
